- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour

- Red or pink jam or frosting for filling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Mix softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy.
- Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until dough comes together.
- Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut out heart shapes using cookie cutters and place on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Cool on wire racks.
- Spread jam or frosting on the flat side of a cookie and top with another cookie to form a sandwich.
