Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ribeye steaks, 1 inch thick
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- Fresh thyme sprigs
Instructions
- Season steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat until shimmering.
- Place steaks in the hot skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
- Reduce heat to low, add butter, garlic, and thyme to the skillet.
- Baste the steak with melted butter and aromatics for 1-2 minutes.
- Remove steaks and let rest for 5 minutes before serving, spooning additional butter sauce over the top.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for precise doneness: 130°F for medium-rare.
- Allow steaks to rest to retain juices.
- Feel free to swap thyme for rosemary for a different flavor.
