Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and 1/4 cup water. Cook over medium heat until amber in color.
- Gradually stir in butter and heavy cream, whisking continuously.
- Add vanilla and sea salt, simmer until thickened.
- Pour over a prepared buttery base and let set in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Notes
Ensure caramel reaches the right amber color to avoid bitterness. For a thicker caramel, simmer a few extra minutes.
