Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ teaspoons)
- 1 cup warm milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape into rolls and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Let the rolls rise for another 20 minutes. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- You can prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate for a quick morning bake.
- Brush the tops with melted butter after baking for extra softness and shine.
