  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup sliced bell peppers (red, yellow, or green)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup sliced carrots
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 thumb-sized ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or any high-heat oil)
  • Optional: sesame seeds, chopped green onions for garnish
  • For the sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (dissolved in 2 tablespoons water)

Instructions

  1. Begin by slicing the beef thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness. Prepare the vegetables by washing and slicing the bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and the cornstarch mixture. Set aside.
  3. Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove from pan and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Toss in the garlic and ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots, stir-frying for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender yet crisp.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the pan with vegetables. Pour the sauce over the mixture and stir well to coat evenly. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Always slice the beef thinly for quick cooking and tenderness.
  • Use high heat to get an authentic stir fry sear and flavor.
  • Adjust the sauce ingredients to match your preferred flavor—more sweetness, spice, or saltiness.
  • You can substitute beef with chicken, shrimp, or tofu for a healthy stir fry variation.
