Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips or chopped milk chocolate
- Orange and black icing for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing well.
- Shape dough into small balls and flatten slightly. Make a small indentation in the center of each cookie.
- Place a few milk chocolate chips or a small chunk in the indentations. Cover with a small piece of dough to seal in the chocolate.
- Arrange cookies on prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden.
- Allow to cool slightly, then decorate with orange and black icing to create jack-o’-lantern faces.
Notes
- Ensure not to overload cookies with chocolate to prevent overflowing.
- Decorate after cookies have cooled for best icing adhesion.
