  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 12 ounces of your favorite pasta (fettuccine or linguine works beautifully)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a spicy kick)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium. Add the butter and remaining olive oil. Once melted, sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and stir well, scraping any browned bits from the pan. Add grated Parmesan cheese and stir until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened. Season with salt, pepper, and additional red pepper flakes if desired.
  5. Add the cooked pasta and shrimp back into the skillet. Toss until well coated with the sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes to meld flavors.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately for the best flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute shrimp with cooked chicken or tofu for a different protein option.
  • Use gluten-free pasta if you need a gluten-free dish.
  • Adjust the level of spiciness with more or less red pepper flakes.
  • For creamier sauce, add a splash of extra cream before serving.
