Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- Zest of 1 large lemon
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar, then beat in the eggs one at a time.
- Stir in vanilla extract, lemon juice, and lemon zest until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. The batter should be thick and fragrant.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the lemon brownie base to cool completely in the pan before slicing into small, bite-sized pieces.
- Optional: Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with lemon glaze for extra flavor and presentation.
Notes
- For an extra lemon flavor, increase lemon zest or juice.
- You can substitute lemon extract for lemon juice for a more concentrated lemon aroma.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- If freezing, wrap tightly and store for up to 3 months.
