Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Powdered sugar for coating
- Optional: melted chocolate or caramel for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a saucepan, combine water, butter, and sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
- Add the flour all at once and stir vigorously until a smooth dough forms. Let it cool slightly.
- Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Incorporate the egg, vanilla extract, and cinnamon, mixing thoroughly.
- Pipe small strips of dough onto a lined baking sheet using a star-shaped piping tip or spoon for rustic bites.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven, cool slightly, then toss in powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate or caramel.
Notes
- Use a star-shaped piping tip to mimic traditional churro ridges.
- Allow the dough to cool enough to prevent stickiness for easier piping.
- Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar before baking or after coating for extra flavor.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
